What does science know about lucid dreaming? Is it possible to control your dreams?
In this 3 minute video AsapScience talks about the science behind lucid dreaming and the basic steps to lucid dream:
Keeping a journal
Doing reality checks
Practicing the Mnemonically Induced Lucid Dream (MILD) technique
Practicing the Wake Induced Lucid Dreams (WILD) technique
What I love about this video is that it points out how science is still questioning if sleep and wakefulness are distinct events or part of a continuum. When you dream of doing something your brain activity is almost if not completely identical to performing the same activity while being awake.
This is one of the most powerful effects of lucid dreaming, mastering any skill while you are dreaming and then seeing how your performance of that skill is exponentially enhanced in wakefulness.
Have you ever experienced a lucid dream? If you could lucid dream, what would you do? And how can you be sure that you are not dreaming right now?
